Liberty Elementary Residency

In April, 2012 I was artist in residence at Liberty Elementary school in Albany, OR. During this residency I led the Kindergarten through second graders in a bug themed clay project and the third through fifth graders in an famous artist inspired painting project. Below are some brief descriptions of each grade's project as well as some pictures. What fantastic art these kids created!!
(My car filled with tiles ready to be fired)

Kindergarten: The kindergarteners made clay caterpillar and butterfly tiles!

First graders made clay centipedes and lady bugs!

Second graders made dragonflies and fireflies!

Third graders created paintings inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso! Student's used shapes, cubism  and bright colors!

Fourth graders created paintings inspired by the work of Georgia O'Keeffe! Many students took inspiration from nature, used shading and vivid colors.

Fifth graders created paintings inspired by the work of Salvador Dali! Student's used imagery from dreams and their imaginations to create surrealist paintings!

Thanks to The Arts Center and the Liberty PTA as well as teachers and parent volunteers!!
