PROFILE
I am a ceramicist and teaching artist living in Corvallis Oregon. I currently teach art classes through the Corvallis Arts Center, the Oregon State University Craft Center, in the Corvallis school districts through short term contracted artist residencies and privately at my home studio. I work in a wide variety of mediums and have experience teaching all ages from pre-schoolers to adults. I also have experience working with at-risk youth. I help artists of all ages and backgrounds discover their creative voice. 
CCURRENT POSITION
Art Instructor, The Arts Center, Corvallis OR — Feb. 2008-2016
I have been teaching classes at the Corvallis Arts Center since 2008 to ages ranging from pre-school to adulthood. Some examples of classes I have taught are: Clay (hand building and wheel throwing), drawing, painting, fashion design/ sewing, pinhole camera photography, recycled sculpture, Eco Art, Puppetry, and much more! 

Ceramics Instructor, OSU Craft Center, Corvallis OR — Sept 2008-2016
I have taught adult ceramics classes at the OSU Craft Center since 2008. My classes have ranged from wheel throwing classes (plates, bowls, etc.), hand building,  surface design, garden art, and mixed media sculpture.

Led all levels in clay animal and figure sculpture
Resident Artist Lincoln School, Corvallis OR- December 2015
Led 4th grade students in clay animal sculpture and haiku writing project
Art Instructor, Children’s Farm Home, Corvallis OR—Jan-May 2014
Worked with residents on a ceramic tile project that represents the history of the farm home. Funded by a grant from the Benton County Cultural Coalition and the Oregon Cultural Trust, the finished project is a permanent installation at the farm home overlooking the garden/ visiting area. 
Resident Ceramics Instructor, Lourdes Public Charter School, Scio OR — Mar 2014
Worked with all grades on ceramic spring garden art projects. We made clay turtle boxes, planting pots and wind chimes. 
Private Ceramics Teacher, Beit Am Jewish Temple, Corvallis OR — Mar 2014
Worked with small Sunday school class on making custom ceramic Seder plates for passover. 
Clay Instructor, Lincoln Elementary School, Corvallis OR — Feb-Mar 2014
Instructed all levels in making hand built clay animals and mixed media habitats for them. 
Ceramics Instructor, Jackson St. Youth Shelter, Corvallis OR — Dec 2013- Jan 2014
Worked with residents on hand building and wheel throwing various clay projects. 
Artist in Residence, College Hill High School, Corvallis OR — Sept 2013
Led students in making a ceramic tile quilt based around the themes of “empathy” and “respect”. Each student created a personalized tile and the tiles were then “woven” with wire into an installation art piece and displayed within the school. 
Ceramics Instructor, Crescent Valley High School, Corvallis OR — April- May 2013
Led the Raider Academy Classes in making ceramic sculptures and helped students write their own artist statements about their work. 
Art Instructor, Lincoln Elementary School, Corvallis OR — Feb-June 2013
Worked with 3 classrooms of 4th and 5th graders over several months and led various art projects in painting, drawing and clay. 
Artist in Residence, Liberty Elementary School,  Albany OR — April 2012
Led kindergarten through second graders in making insect themed ceramic tiles and third through fifth graders in painting self portraits inspired by different modern artists. Finished tiles were installed in the school. 
Artist in Residence, Wilson Elementary School, Corvallis OR — March 2012
Led Kindergarten through fifth graders in a series of drawing classes teaching the fundamentals of drawing including value, perspective, still life, the figure, etc. 
Cartooning Instructor, Boys and Girls Club, Corvallis, OR — March 2012
Taught a group of home schooled students how to make their own comic strips by learning to draw the figure, designing stylized characters, developing a storyline and putting it all together to create a comic. 
Artist in Residence, Philomath Elementary School, Philomath, OR — Feb 2012
Led second through fifth graders in a pop art self-portrait project inspired by the work of modern artist Andy Warhol.

Co-taught after school art classes with Tamara Mullen on early-release days for the full year. Projects focused on giving students a voice through art and exploring self-expression.

Co-taught art classes with Tamara Mullen to residents at the Children’s Farm Home as part of the “Artful Voice” program. Projects in Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media and Clay.

Taught all grades a series of drawing lessons including a field study at Finley Wildlife Refuge.  
Resident Artist, Hoover Elementary School, Corvallis, OR — Feb 2011
Co-taught puppet making classes with Chris Neely to all grades. Puppets were made by students out of clay, fabric, paper, and paint. 
Clay Instructor, Muddy Creek Charter School, Corvallis, OR — Feb 2010
Taught students of all levels how to make clay masks. The masks were displayed at the Corvallis Art Center’s main gallery when finished. 
Drawing Instructor, 4H Summer Workshops OSU, Corvallis, OR — June 2009 and June 2008
Instructed 4H students of all levels in drawing activities as part of the summer workshops. 
Artist In Residence, Cloverdale Elementary School, Turner, OR — April 2008
Co-taught classes with Elizabeth Tollerton themed “Dream Weavers: Keepers of the Dreamscapes”. Classes included free-form sculpting fantasy creatures and simple sketching. 
Ceramics Instructor, Maude Kerns Art Center, Eugene, OR — Jan-Mar 2007
Taught ceramics classes to adults. Wheel throwing and hand building using underglazes and low temperature kiln firing.

Worked in ceramics department as a clay/ glaze technician. Mixed clay and glazes, re- stocked dry materials for glazing, kept facilities clean and stocked, aided instructors and students, fired kilns.
